Music:
The Jacksons feel that music is their most vital ministry. God has gifted them both vocally and instrumentally. The technology of today adds variety and makes it possible to do things that were only dreamed of twenty years ago. Besides singing solos and duets, Paul & Trish also do trios, quartets, and even 5-part harmonies using a prerecorded soundtrack along with live vocals.
Style
The music of the Jacksons is basically middle-of-
the-road gospel with spirituals, southern gospel, classical, country, contemporary, hymns, and even
a "techno-rap" tune. They want to reach all ages and all tastes in music. Trish has written several of the songs and arranges the majority of their repertoire.
- Recordings
Paul & Trish have recorded at Pinebrook Studio in Alexandria, IN and Clarion Studio in Denver, CO. Their latest recording was done at Soundtech Studio in Phoenix, AZ. A short complementary demo of that album is available. You may also order their recordings by contacting the home office.
- Instruments
Acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and several state-of-the-art keyboards including a Kurzweil K2600 and a Korg Triton do much to enhance the presentation of the gospel by the Jacksons. The keyboards are played simultaneously by means of MIDI interface, giving a full, layered sound.
- Sound
The Jacksons carry their own public address system with "surround sound" style speakers that give a clear, crisp response. Paul and Trish are concerned that the volume of sound is reasonable and the words of the songs understandable so that God can speak clearly to the needs of people. Incidentally, if you are wanting to do a program in some out-of-the-way place that has no electrical outlets handy, the Jackson's trailer is equipped with a generator to provide the electricity.
- Local Musicians
In an extended meeting, the Jacksons would greatly appreciate having the local church pianist and organist involved in the song service each evening. This frees Trish to add other instrumentation with her keyboards, provides an opportunity for local musicians to be involved in the program, and helps promote a team feeling.
Drama & Comedy
A new avenue of ministry has recently opened up for Paul & Trish. Drama, whether hilariously funny, deadly serious, or pointedly overstated, can capture the attention of any age. In a world that is entertainment oriented, "Harley & Mama"(Ozark style humor) have a message to share that makes an eternal difference.
Puppetry
Back in 1976, when the Jacksons were looking for a way to entertain and teach children, they discovered some homemade puppets in the basement of the church. As they honed their ministry, they realized that puppets aren't just for kids. The gospel message that Bronty, Al, Billy, Duke, and BB share is simple enough for children understand, but mature enough to capture the attention of teens and adults. Many times God has used "THE KIDS" to draw people of all ages to Himself.
Preaching
The anointed lay preaching of Paul Jackson speaks to all ages in a simple, forward manner. It is his deep desire to acquaint people with the Saviour he found as a young boy. Whether in line at the Truck Stop, over the CB, or in a regular church setting, Paul is available. His committed lifestyle, dramatic presentation, genuine earnestness and evangelistic appeal draw people to the Cross. A timely message of walking in faith, totally committed to God every moment of the day, ministers to those dealing with the hurts and the hurried, self-serving lifestyle of this age.
The Writing and Music of Trish Jackson
Trish's poetry and recitation deals with God's way of teaching us to be totally His through life's experiences. In laughter and tears, we learn to listen for God's voice and be obedient. Speaking of the Holy Spirit's work, Trish shares: "We can ignore and squelch His still, small voice, and yes, He will go away and we will be the less for it. But, if we learn to be obedient in the little things, He gives us BIG things to be obedient about."
Trish writes and arranges music in a variety of styles to share the gospel message and encourage Christians to keep serving Jesus. A collection of her songs, "I'm Gone" is available on cassette or compact disc. Soundtracks of six of the songs have been completed as well as sheet music for "Jetstream" and "Less of Me, More of You."
